How long can you sit at a table and draw before you realize that your picture is operating on a series of rules? What happens on a page with an artist you like isn’t an accident, it’s a balance of space, form, rhythm, movement, color and a million different aesthetic terms that are all MEASURABLE.

Beauty is an intangible thing; can not be fixed on the surface, and the wear and tear of old age on the body cannot defeat it.
A worker or painter should enjoy his work, else the observer will not enjoy it.

To paint is to know how to put nothing on a canvas, and have it look like something when you stand back
Keep a bad drawing until by study you have found out why it is bad
